Assistive Listening Devices

In some cases, hearing aids are not the complete answer to communication difficulties. There are many other devices available to help you in your most difficult listening environments. These devices include television listening systems, special doorbells and telephones.

Audiometric Evaluations
The audiometric evaluation (audio) consists of testing with both speech and pure tones. Testing with pure tones is done to determine the amount of hearing loss for volume.

Auditory brainstem response
ABR-Diagnostic Auditory brainstem response (ABR) is a diagnostic test which is similar to an elctroencephalogram (EEG). This procedure involves the use of clicking sounds to stimulate the auditory nerve, which produces an electical response.

Auditory Processing Evaluations
Central auditory processing disorders (CAPD) are neurological-based disorders that are characterized by deficits related to auditory memory difficulties, integration problems, or decoding difficulties.

Hearing Aid Consultation
The Hearing Aid Consultation is a counseling session centered around your specific hearing needs, and the hearing devices available to fit those needs. We will discuss your potential benefit from hearing aids, which hearing aid styles are best suited for your needs.

Hearing Aid evaluations
At the hearing aid evaluation, you and your audiologist will determine which type of hearing aid is best for you and your unique needs, including the style, circuit, and number of hearing aids necessary.

OtoAcoustic Emissions
OtoAcoustic Emissions testing helps us to determine the health and viability of the hair cells in your cochlea. These tiny hairs are similar to nerve endings in the organ of hearing.

Tympanometry
IMPEDANCE testing evaluates your eardrum's ability to vibrate, the pressure in the middle ear, the reflex action of the tiniest muscle in the body (stapedius), and the function of the eustachian tube.
